Biowaste – such as animal manure, sewage sludge and food waste – form the most abundant waste stream in Europe and hence, the most prominent potential resource for the production of biogas and the recovery and re-use of mineral nutrients like phosphorus (P), nitrogen (N) and potassium (K).
SYSTEMIC works to facilitate the transition to a circular economy in Europe by demonstrating new approaches to nutrient recovery from biowaste and hence, to sustain our future food production while decreasing environmental impacts.
